Key Market Terms
- Pip
- The standard unit of price movement. On most currency pairs, it is the fourth decimal place (0.0001).
- Lot
- The contract volume of a trade. A standard lot equals 100,000 units of the base currency, with mini and micro sizes also available.
- Spread
- The difference between the bid and ask price. It represents the primary trading cost and fluctuates with market liquidity.
- Leverage
- Allows you to control a larger market exposure than your account equity. Most accounts offer leverage up to 1:300; Platinum accounts are capped at 1:200.
- Swap
- An overnight rollover interest fee. All Smart Trader accounts are strictly Islamic and swap-free.
- STP
- Straight-Through Processing. Orders are routed directly to liquidity providers with zero dealing desk intervention.
